What is Concrete Overlays?
Concrete Overlays – Concrete Overlays are thin, cement based product that goes over existing concrete and are used to restore, repair, to level concrete, and/or are used for decorative purposes. Depending on the need and the usage of the desired finish will determine the type of concrete overlay that is required. Concrete Overlays can be applied as a thin layer such as a feather finish and up to 3/4″ or 1.5″.
Concrete Overlays are an extremely cost effective way to enhance the current concrete condition and are commonly used to correct uneven floors, smoothen the appearance of the concrete as a result of pitting or delamination, repair old concrete that has aged with time and usage, and/or get the concrete prepared for other flooring applications such as hardwood, tile, or PVC flooring.
There are several different overlay systems which are primarily categorized as concrete micro toppings, or multipurpose overlays or self-leveling overlays. All have different characteristics and thickness, final design and purpose will determine the best type of concrete overlay for your project.
